     WHISTLER, BC, February 1, 2012 – Whistler Mountain Bike Park and Giant Bicycles are excited to announce they will be working together for the 2012 bike season. Giant, one of mountain biking’s top bike manufacturers, will become the official bike partner of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Additionally, the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is pleased to announce they will work with RockShox suspension, AVID brakes and while continuing their partnership with SRAM and TRUVATIV. “Giant Bicycles is one of the biggest, and arguably best, mountain bike manufactures in the world, and the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is stoked to work with them,” says Bike Park Manager Brian Finestone. “Giant’s line of gravity mountain bikes are second to none, and we are extremely happy to partner with Giant, RockShox and AVID to supply premium mountain bike products to our customers.”  Whistler Mountain Bike Park’s rental fleet of Giant bikes will consist of 150 Glory and Faith models. 50 will be set up for the expert or bike “fanatic” who wants to rent a top of the line race or gravity machine, while 100 Glory and Faith models will be set up for the novice to intermediate rider.  “Whistler Mountain Bike Park is not only the biggest and best lift-accessed bike park in the world, but it is also a great place to connect with riders from around the world,” says Paul Nash of Giant Canada. “The incredible terrain in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park is the perfect testing ground for our mountain bikes.” The Giant bikes will be equipped with the latest DH specific components from SRAM, RockShox, AVID and TRUVATIV. Each bike will be meticulously maintained by Whistler Mountain Bike Park mechanics who will be completing SRAM Technical University (STU) training and will have a thorough knowledge of the Giant bicycles.       WHISTLER, BC, November 29, 2011 – Whistler Blackcomb’s annual “Dress like Santa Day” will take place on Saturday, December 17. A free lift ticket will be awarded to the first 75 people to check in at the Garibaldi Lift Company at the base of Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire. To qualify, skiers and snowboarders must arrive dressed in their very best Santa or Mrs. Claus costume.  The costume must include red or black pants or a skirt for Mrs. Claus, a red jacket with white trim, a black belt, a beard for Santa and of course, a Santa or Mrs. Claus hat. The meeting time for all Santa and Mrs. Claus participants is 8:00am on the patio of the Garibaldi Lift Company at the base of Whistler Mountain. One free lift ticket per person will be awarded to the first 75 people who meet full costume requirements. “Mrs. Claus and I never miss our annual ski holiday at Whistler Blackcomb,” says Santa Claus, “It’s always nice to be on the receiving end of the Christmas Gift for a change!”  All Santa and Mrs. Claus’s will upload the Fitzsimmons Express at 8:30am, continue up Garbanzo Express, then ride or ski to the bottom of the Emerald Express as a group for a photo opportunity. After the photos, a draw will take place at the bottom of the Emerald Express where participating Santa’s and Mrs. Claus’s will have a chance to win additional prize packages. After the photo, all are free to enjoy their day on the mountains. No registration is necessary for this event.     Whistler Blackcomb is pleased to announce the popular Fire and Ice show will return this season taking place on Sunday nights from December 18, 2011 through April 8, 2012. Arguably the No. 1 free family activity in Whistler, the Fire and Ice show provides great animation and entertainment for all guests of Whistler. Improvements this winter include a new sound system and improved lighting, adding to last year’s staging improvements which offers better visibility of the action. “The Fire and Ice Show is a great community event and Whistler Blackcomb would like to thank a broad group of resort stakeholders who help make the show happen,” says Rob McSkimming, Whistler Blackcomb’s vice president of business development. “On behalf of Whistler Blackcomb I would like to recognize and thank: TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival, Pan Pacific, The Westin, Nita Lake Lodge, Crystal Lodge, Fairmont Chateaux Whistler, Hilton, Lodging Ovations, Zog’s, Black’s and Sushi Village.” The Fire and Ice show takes place in Skier’s Plaza at the base of Whistler Mountain every Sunday evening from December 18 through April 17.     On Saturday December 3, Whistler Heli-Skiing takes flight for its 31st winter with incredible early season conditions and a new Whistler Heli-Skiing Après Lounge at the Bearfoot Bistro. “With 432,000 acres of terrain and the opportunity to ski huge powder vertical on any given day, we are able to find great conditions for all skiers and riders,” says Mike Sadan, General Manager of Whistler Heli-Skiing. “That’s one of the reasons Whistler Heli-Skiing is such an incredible experience: there is a tremendous variety of terrain available from wide open glaciers to beautiful gladed tree runs.     WHISTLER, BC, November 24, 2011 - Blackcomb Mountain opened today, joining Whistler Mountain which opened six days early on November 18. 4,300 acres and over 4,085 vertical feet of skiing and riding is currently available, more than anywhere else in the world at this time. Currently 13 lifts, one full terrain park line, and a 15 foot half pipe are open.   “We are very excited to open Blackcomb Mountain with such incredible snow conditions and coverage,” explained Doug Macfarlane, Mountain Manager of Whistler Blackcomb. “To be able to offer 4,300 acres in November is really exciting, and offers our guests an amazing experience on both mountains.”   Cumulatively this November, 237cm (7.7 feet) of snow has fallen, surpassing the average November snowfall of 165cm (5.4 Feet). Another 85cm (2.8 feet) of snow is forecasted to fall by Monday.    Seven lifts are currently in operation on Blackcomb Mountain including the Excalibur Gondola, Wizard Chair, Solar Coaster Chair, Excelerator Chair, Catskinner Chair, Crystal Chair and Jersey Cream Chair. The Whistler Village Gondola, Creekside Gondola, Emerald Express, Garbanzo Express and Big Red Express will be running on Whistler Mountain bringing the total lifts in operation to 13, including the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. Skiing and riding will available right to the village this weekend, one of the earliest dates that a ski out has been available.   With all of the snow, early season conditions still apply. It is extra important all mountain signage is obeyed and guests stay within the marked operational boundary. Please be aware of rocks and other hazards below the snow surface.
